This Miele WTW870WPM<\/a> is a great combined washer and condensation dryer for home usage.

\nI bought this slightly over half a year ago, as an upgrade of a Miele 2670 WPM I have had for about 20 years.
\nStrictly the upgrade was pure luxury<\/strong>, the 2670 was as good as new, I mainly wanted the larger capacity 5Kg\/2.5Kg -> 9Kg\/6Kg.
\nYes I know I could get it a bit larger in other brands, but once you have had a Miele it is hard to even consider a downgrade. It just works! A reliable workhorse build as a tank…<\/p>\n

The WTW<\/strong>870 got a smaller twin WTR<\/strong>870 with 1Kg less load capacity but the dimensions closer to the old WT2670. To my surprise the WTR<\/strong>870 model has actually been reduced<\/em> to just under the 100Kg mark 101->98Kg compared to the WT2670. The deeper WTW<\/strong>870 I got, is slightly heavier with 102Kg, and it certainly feels just as sturdy as the old one.
\nNote that the WTW<\/strong>870 is 71.4cm deep<\/strong>, and that is\u00a0 7.7cm deeper than the 63.7cm of the WTR<\/strong>870 and 13.4cm deeper than the Wt2670, so make sure you have room for it, or stick with the WTR<\/strong>870 model.<\/p>\n

I can not find a 870 page in English, hence the above German link<\/a>. But I can<\/em> find its lesser sibling the 860<\/a> And it is not that far from it. Here<\/a> the compare (in German)\u00a0 with the WTR<\/strong>870 in between the two.<\/p>\n

The only real complaint I have on the WTW870 is that the Tech is roughly five years old, but they do not (yet?) offer a washer+dryer with more modern heat-pumps (as used in the high end of their dedicated dryers).<\/p>\n

I do not really care for the cost<\/em> of the extra power and water, with no kids nor a job generating loads of dirty garments it does not need to run more than say every fortnight.\u00a0 but in 2026, it would be nice to be a little ‘greener’. And heat-pump models dries at lower temperatures, potentially making them usable for more types of garments. So had a heat pump model existed I would most likely have bought that – unless it came with a really hefty over price.<\/p>\n

Works!<\/h3>\n

As expected with a Miele product it just works! It is not the most fancy features you can find out there, but what you buy is the quality&reliability.<\/p>\n

As everything nowadays it got IoT and comes with an app control. Well sort of. Not a very good app, and it for no reasonable reason only works for newer Android, so I needed to use some random phone I have for testing, as my FxTec Pro1<\/a> sadly is stuck on an older Android. But with the few usable features offered by the app it really will not be missed.<\/p>\n

It can be integrated into HomeAssistant also. I have not tried to fiddle with that (yet?), but the API might offer some more useful features than what can be had from the app.<\/p>\n

The washing in flawless<\/strong>, and as can be expected with (fairly) modern machines it washes longer and with lower consumption. It got a tonne of features, and I do not know if you can lure it to wash ‘less green’ with same result if you are in a hurry. There are som express options.<\/p>\n

I do not see any noticeable differences in the washing result over the old 2670, neither better nor worse, the old worked flawlessly too.
\nIt might<\/em> be that the shirts are slightly<\/em> less wrinkled, but it is not an objective compare<\/strong>, and if real could be simply due to the larger drum and thus less risk of over-stuffing it.
\nOn the other hand the larger diameter means that there are more force applied at the same 1600RPM, So would have expected things to get more<\/em> wrinkled.<\/p>\n

The old 2670 was really good at ‘magically’ distribute the weight so there were minimal vibrations, even if just big towels or similar large garments were used. And I think that WTW870 might be even better here, but again not an objective compare. But the larger diameter should make it harder<\/em> not easier to keep the vibrations under control.<\/p>\n

It offers some TwinDos detergent system. I have not got the foggiest idea, if they are just pulling more money out of my pockets with this, or it actually provides any technical improvement over using a normal detergent. It certainly is more convenient<\/strong> than fiddling with soap yourself to have it automatically dose it, So I most likely will continue to use it – as my usage is low, convenience easily wins over cost per wash.
\nThey should be praised for offering the soap-system in a variant with no stinking added. Though the ones that comes with the machine are with added stench – and were obviously never going to infest my machine nor laundry…. If you ask me they should sell the stench separately so people that for whatever strange reason want it, could add it, not the other way round that they sell the stench-free with a 7% surcharge.<\/p>\n

At the least their app can tell a rough estimate of the amount of detergent left in the two cartridges.<\/p>\n

Final words<\/h3>\n

The only programs I have used this far are Cotton 30\u00b0 and 60\u00b0 as well as Silk. Apart from occasional drying and rinse fluff-filter.
\nSo I’m not the right person to judge the result quality of the many programs\u00a0 features it offers. But for what I have tested, it is doing an excellent job<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
