T8 Ultra, the true 2025 compact successor of the thin fabulous classic T8

The T8_ultra is a 7mm thin 40mm watch, that seems to be the true compact 2025 successor of the T8_classic originally from 2022

Forget about the T8 trio from the spring of 2024!

The T8_ultra has an exterior much like the T8_mini, BUT does NOT share its interior, and got the calling capabilities of the T8_pro in a more compact body (both part of the above mentioned 2024 trio).

Luckily they are back with their own QWatchPro, and not the crappy DaFit app.

I have a very positive review of it predecessor T8_classic so you might want to glance at that too. (I was less happy with the 2024 T8 Trio, reviewed here)

And here compared with its older siblings (3 generations in 6 variants – still with a few question marks!)

(*) The T8_orig with 1.00_24 is 12% heavier than the 1.00_23 in exactly the same case dimensions, Perhaps larger battery??)

The T8_Ultra is offered in ‘Gold’ and ‘Black’ (that really is more like ‘gunmetal’)

Though the case of the T8_Ultra (right) looks a lot like the T8_mini (to the left) at first glance it is slightly thicker, and the slanted region of the back a bit less, so larger volume

Personaly I find the 18mm band they use a bit disproportional. Less half the width of the watch just looks odd in my book.

Bezels

The T8_ultra has quite large bezels, especially if you compare it to the U17 I got one day earlier…

If you just pick a random colourful watch-face it can look really bad

Or just one with a bright edge, that really makes the bezels scream out:

But if you pick it carefully, and use something that has a black background or fades towards black, it is OK (see below on the APP for the many options)

And here with the H06 squeezed in as a watch with bezels between the two, that all have roughly the same case area (ignoring the band-arms of the T8_Ultra and H06)

App

I’m really glad to see it being back on QWatchPro, that was used by the T8_classic, a much more stable app than DaFit used for the 2024 T8-trio.

The T8_ultra  got 5 fixed watch-face, got one with your own background and is offered 472 watch-faces for free download, but you can only store one on the watch at the time 🙄 (and currently no way to mark the ones you like as favourites, so a bit complex with a LOT of swiping to change)

Sleep

It’s included in a small sleep-test I did here (as the winner).

Battery and charging

AOD turned ON

Removed from charger at 100% 2025-09-26 22:45, AOD turned ON.

After 23½h it was at 61%, it died somewhere between 1:40 and 2 the next night, so 51h with AOD ON, and this is totally acceptable in 2025 for such a small and thin watch.

AOD turned OFF

Unplugged recharged fully 2025-09-29 19:00. After 14 days it was at 44%, But it dived deep in the low end and after 16d 8h it was at 2% so 2⅓ weeks.

Conclusive remarks.

I’m not really at a full conclusion, though the large bezels and the coarse HR monitoring is a disappointment, the rest seems fine. But I did give up on it for that after the discharge test. Despite the very good results in the sleep test.
One thing I love on the T8_Ultra (that I really miss on the H06) is the simple feature of pressing the button an extra time to turn off the display rather than waiting for a timeout. A simple double-click and you got the time and is back off… super simple tiny detail, but daily miss it on almost all others I tested.

This will not be a new daily driver though, I’ll stick with the just 1.3% thicker and 2.5% wider H06 with its 23% larger screen and less coarse monitoring.
